Special Fruit is currently the only player in the market to offer the Sweet Royalla blackberry variety from Portugal. The production is running at full speed and the quality of the blackberry is at its best. This promising variety offers a combination of excellent characteristics necessary to boost sales of the blackberry in the soft fruit category. The crunchy blackberry has a very generous flavor that is nicely rounded out with a mild sweetness, something that most standard varieties lack. Its long shelf life and lack of red cells are additional assets.
Portuguese growers also believe in Sweet Royalla, they already increased their planned production numbers for next year by 50%. By the end of this year the variety will also be grown in Moroccan fields. This will allow Special Fruit to offer the premium blackberry almost year-round. In doing so, we as a company want to commit to a sustainable supply of healthy fruit whereby we can limit long-distance transport from Mexico. Production peaks around Easter and Christmas, which immediately gives our royal blackberry a festive accent.
The blackberry is currently the berry with the most potential. We can attribute this to the high health factor associated with it and to the improvement in taste. Consumers are increasingly finding their way to the fiber-rich blackberry and see it as a new addition to their berry love.
The feedback we have received so far from our B2B customers has also been extremely positive. In short, our customers don't want any other variety. It promises to be a bright future for Sweet Royalla.
